Ahh, I see you, Bettie! Been there myself more times than I can count. The real magic happens when we stay with a strategy long enough to let it work. Anything in particular you’re feeling the urge to tweak right now?
Listen to your gut on this one. Refine. Go with the things that really light you up and you enjoy delivering. Anything you remove can come back at a later date, if it feels right.
I did exactly that yesterday and took down some services that did not seem to fit in. I am so happy about the result. Now it is easier to promote it and hopefuply stick with it :)
Yay! Well done Bettie. Just try not to tweak again for 90 days. I know, i know!, it's a long time, but honestly 90 days is they key time frame to see if your changes have made the desired impact.
Feeling the same way—I have a parent company and sub brands, a full website with offerings and very little actual revenue. BUT working on changing that and putting key pieces into action, quickly!
Sometimes too much choice for your customer actually means they take no action at all. They get decision paralysis. We think we’re being super helpful but actually we’re just confusing them to the point they don’t buy.
I think it's important to commit and go full on in before you decide to pivot. And I agree with you that that's where a lot of people get stuck and I think a lot of it has to do with fear.
Absolutely, Bette! Committing fully before pivoting is so important—otherwise, it’s easy to convince ourselves something ‘isn’t working’ before we’ve actually given it a real chance.
And you’re spot on about fear. Fear of wasting time, fear of failing, fear of what people might think if we do stick with it and it still doesn’t work… It’s often fear disguised as ‘logic.’
Curious, what helps you push past that fear and commit?
The more committed I am to the outcome, the more likely I am to follow through. If I'm not fully committed to it, that’s when it becomes an issue. For me, I really have to get focused on what it is that I truly want.
Sam this hit waaaay too close to home for me! I have a long history of giving a new project 2-3 months then dumping it due to lack of results.
I was determined when I joined Substack that I would stick with it till I saw the results I wanted. 8 months later, I still don’t have the results I want, but I have seen enough growth to know they will be here eventually. Loved this post, thank you for writing it.
Mack, I love this level of self-awareness! That ‘2-3 month’ cycle is so common, especially for driven people who are used to seeing quick wins. But look at what’s different this time… 8 months in and still going! That’s huge.
Growth rarely follows the timeline we expect, but you’ve already broken an old pattern by sticking with it. And if you’ve seen some results, that’s proof that more are on their way.
And honestly? I’ve been writing this Substack since August, and this is the first post that has had multiple comments! It’s a reminder that momentum builds in ways we can’t always see right away. Keep going—you’re building something real here!
Consistently sharing my 1:1 therapy services. I struggle when seeds I planted last month don't seem to be blooming! Then I over do it, then stop, then repeat! 🙈
I hear you, Natasha! It’s so easy to fall into that cycle of overdoing, then stopping, then starting again, it’s like a marketing burnout loop. The truth is, the seeds are growing, but most of the time, we can’t see the roots forming underground. The key is to keep showing up with steady consistency rather than all-or-nothing bursts.
What if you committed to a simple, sustainable rhythm for sharing your 1:1 therapy services. Something that feels doable even on the quieter weeks? Maybe, if we’re talking about Instagram—one post and one Story mention per week, without overthinking it? That way, you’re staying visible without the pressure to ‘see results’ instantly. How does that feel?
A marketing burnout loop, exactly! I'm far too familiar with it. Yes once a week sounds good, just got to watch the urge to do more if I'm feeling good because it's still the loop just in different clothes 🫠
Yes, exactly! That urge to ‘do more while I’m in the mood’ is sneaky because it feels productive in the moment but can actually be what triggers the stop-start cycle. Instead, what if you channelled that extra energy into banking content for the weeks when motivation dips? That way, you’re still honouring the momentum but without overextending yourself.
Also, keep an eye on what ‘just once a week’ brings up for you. Sometimes, the discomfort of not doing more is the real growth edge! Let it be easy. You’ve got this.
LOVED reading this!
Thank you! I’m glad it resonated 😊
Yep thats me :)

Yes 100%!

That makes complete sense. It’s all about the deeper ‘why’ of why we’re doing something. Once we know that, commitment is a lot less of a problem.
