This part right here: "Your ideas, your expertise, your offers – that’s the business.

Your personality can support your brand. But it shouldn’t be the brand." I could not agree more. For non-influencers the "you are your brand" has always landed as bad advice to me (especially as someone who once had her entire sense of self-worth wrapped up in her career).

I hear that loud Elena! For years and years I thought I had to “be the brand”. It’s such redundant advice for creatives who don’t want to do sponsored posts flogging other brands products. It’s also the number one concern clients come to me with when they’re starting a business. Do I need to chat with the camera like it’s my BFF and tell everyone what I had for breakfast?! I think ‘this’ puts so many people off starting a business as they think it’s the only way to market – because it’s all the see online.

As a 5/1 HD Projector who also has an 8th house stellium I will sell a kidney before I try to be relatable by sharing my breakfast lol. Some things are best left to the imagination!

Hahaha yes! That 5/1–8th house combo really said ✨mystery over muesli✨. I feel this so much – not everything has to be content. Some things are sacred. Some things are just… breakfast. 👏

Sam this is a breath of fresh air. It’s like you’ve handed us a permission slip to be real. I think the pressure to perform often stems from a deeper fear of not being enough unless we’re seen. But we can flip that script and see visibility as an act of service instead. Thank you so much for this

Thank you so much – this means a lot. I completely agree! So much of the performance comes from that quiet fear of not being enough unless we’re visible. Reframing visibility as an act of service (rather than self-promotion) really does change everything. I’m so glad this landed with you 💛

I have stumbled across you this morning as so happens on substack and feel like I’ve entered a room of people who get it ! Love how you express yourself. This is so interesting. I remember reading “share personal stories, not private stories” and it really resonated and brought clarity to the line we can draw.
