Here’s How I Run My Own Business Retreat Every Quarter
Forget flights and five-star villas. True clarity is something you can build at home.
This month on Strategy with Soul, we were in Taurus season – exploring a four-part series on sustainable growth, self-worth, and building a business that lasts.
Not the hustle. Not the hype.
The kind that’s rooted in clarity – your values, your energy, and what truly supports you long-term.
There was a time when every business owner I knew seemed to be flying off somewhere sun-drenched.
Mallorca. Bali. Ibiza.
We weren't chasing cocktails or sunsets (well, not just). We were chasing space. Breathing room. A few precious days to stop firefighting and start dreaming again.
Business retreats exploded in the late 2010s – all sunrise yoga sessions, vision board workshops, and big, expensive promises of transformation.
And honestly? It made sense.
Running a business can feel like being trapped on a treadmill – every client, deadline, email pulling you forward at breakneck speed. Who wouldn’t want to step off, just for a moment, and remember who they were before the pace swallowed them?
You don't have to leave the country to leave the chaos behind. You can create that space right where you are.

In 2018, I went on one of those retreats myself.
Mallorca. A sun-bleached villa perched in the hills. Four thousand pounds I barely had.
I was exhausted, questioning everything, but trying so hard to keep moving. I thought maybe, just maybe, a plane ticket and a pool could fix the way I’d been feeling.
And for a few days, it did.
We workshopped. We visioned. We had tough conversations under the olive trees. There were breakthroughs and tears and belly laughs.
It was beautiful.
But the part that stayed with me wasn’t the villa, the juice cleanses, or the curated "magic."
It was the space – the slow, clear-headed spaciousness that let me see what mattered and what needed to change.
Uninterrupted time to think on my business, not just in it.
Time to ask: What’s working? What isn’t? Who am I becoming in all of this?
That was the real magic – and it didn’t have to cost four grand. Since then, I’ve made it a non-negotiable rhythm.
This retreat week sits right at the start of my 90-day cycle – it sets the tone for everything that follows.
No flights. No luxury villa. No waiting until I’m on the edge of burnout.
Just structured space to reset, recalibrate, and remember why I started.
Truth is, retreats aren’t just about rest. They're about recalibration.
Finding your feet again – so when you step back into your business, you’re not just surviving. You're choosing.
And strategically?
Recalibration protects your momentum. It’s the difference between random revenue spikes and consistent, focused growth.
How My Quarterly Home Business Retreat Works:
I start each day the same way: a stretch of yoga, a good breakfast, and a silent walk without distractions. Before I even open my laptop, I check in with myself – reviewing my big goals, listening to what my intuition is trying to tell me.
Then, I move through the vital areas of my business, one deliberate step at a time: finances, offers, calendar and delivery planning, website and messaging alignment, seasonal content themes, systems review, and creative restoration.
Since becoming a parent, I’ve had to adapt. Taking a full week isn't always practical – so now I often create mini-retreats: a couple of days, a long weekend, or even two deep-focus days across a fortnight.
And you’d be amazed what even two focused days can shift.
The principle stays the same. Structured time to reconnect with my business – not just react to it.
The Mindset Shifts That Matter:
Most people resist a home business retreat because they think:
"I don't have time."
"I can't afford a week off."
"I'm not earning if I'm not delivering."
But truthfully?
This is the kind of space that ensures your future earnings aren't random.
When you recalibrate every quarter, you’re not scrambling when sales slow – you're already positioned.
It's where you reconnect with what actually drives your business forward: clear offers, clean messaging, strategic marketing, seasonal energy, and sustainable operations.
Without it, you risk running a business that's reactive, panicked, and perpetually behind.
With it, you move with focus, trust, and calm momentum.
Want to structure your own Home Business Retreat without guessing?
I’ve put everything I do into a practical toolkit – from the financial review to the content planning flow. (Plus options for mini-retreats if a full week isn’t realistic right now.)
Because a retreat isn't about doing more – it's about remembering what matters most.
